STEVE VANDERWATER
Chief Executive Officer
Offering more than two decades of senior management and executive leadership within the Energy Industry, Steve is passionate about building inclusive teams to achieve positive results. With experience leading both public and private multinational companies, Steve has been at the helm of visionary strategies, corporate initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and pivotal problem solving. As CEO of Gulf Marine Contractors, Steve is dedicated to building strong client relationships, teamwork inspired infrastructure, and effective communication with all Stakeholders.
KEVIN SHOCKLEY
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Gulf Marine Contractors in 2020, Kevin held positions of Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer in global freight forwarding and logistics. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University. Since joining Gulf Marine Contractors as CFO, Kevin’s strategic acumen has positively influenced collections, legal review, financial reporting, budgeting, governance, and negotiations.
PATRICK KUYS
Chief Commercial Officer & Chief Operating Officer
Patrick joined Gulf Marine Contractors in 2020 as Managing Director of Sub-Sahara operations based in Cape Town, South Africa. Patrick is a Business Management Graduate from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and has spent more than twenty years working around the globe in logistics and offshore projects. With his experience and entrepreneurial drive, Patrick immediately made a positive impact contributing to the growth of Gulf Marine Contractors. This growth required expanded depth at Head Office and in 2022; Patrick relocated with his family to Houston, Texas to serve as Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
JOHN CRUMP
Chief Improvement Officer
John has over twenty-eight years of experience in quality assurance management, holding positions in the United States Air Force in aircraft maintenance/inspection and the Oil and Gas industry in hydraulic fracturing, manufacturing, and downhole wireline. John graduated from Northeastern State University with a master’s degree in industrial management and maintains an Exemplar Global QMS Lead Auditor certification. John monitors conformance to the requirements of Quality Standards, compliance to Safety and Health regulations and Communication. This includes recommending new approaches, auditing processes, and identifying areas for improvement.
LAZARO SOUZA
Managing Director Mexico
Lazaro is a Naval Mechanical Engineer and 1st Engineer Officer STCW-95 from the Maritime and Port University of Mexico (UMPM Universidad Maritima y Portuaria de Mexico). Lazaro joined Gulf Marine Contractors in 2017 as Managing Director of Mexico; responsible for all business operations within the country, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, leading local expansion, and branding the company nationwide. With over 20 years of experience in the offshore industry, Lazaro has worked in various markets during his career holding positions such as Chief Engineer, Operations Superintendent, Port Engineer, Class Surveyor, Offshore Project Manager, and Country Manager.
